Tiff Needell Pits Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster Against Aston Martin DBS Volante

The unveiling of the new Vanquish sports coupe this week means that there's also a Volante (that's Aston Martin talk for convertible) coming our way.

However, since that won't be happening now, British racing driver and television presenter Tiff Needell, who only recently joined EVO magazine, chose the current DBS Volante to battle the Mercedes SLS AMG Roadster.

Spy Shots: Aston Martin Vanquish Shows us up in a New Shade at the 'Ring

Even though Aston Martin officials continue to keep their lips sealed, the car that will replace the DBS and which you will come to know as the Vanquish is not much of a secret any more, especially after the debut of the concept and the recent sighting of an undisguised pre-production model in Italy.

This probably explains why the British supercar brand's engineers did not bother much with the camouflage on this test car that was photographed lapping the Nürburgring Nordschleife.

Scoop: New Aston Martin Vanquish Caught Completely Undisguised in Pictures and on Film

The presentation of the AM310 Concept at last month's Concorso d'Eleganza in Italy didn't leave much to the imagination in regards to the appearance of the replacement of the DBS, which as we later on found out, will be named Vanquish.

Nevertheless, some production details were left out from the concept, which we can now reveal thanks to our spy photographers as well as the folks from Autoblog.it who videotaped the new Vanquish in Italy while Aston Martin was shooting press pictures.

The styling changes over the prototype we saw in May are limited to the more conventional looking alloy wheel designs, the black trimmed upper and lower front grilles as well as the painted spoilers, side skirts and rear diffuser.

DMC Fakhuna is No Joke, it's a Tuning Program for the Aston Martin DBS

German tuners don't seem to be having a lot of luck when it comes to naming their projects - at least some of them. We all remember the AVUS "White Power" Audi RS6 and how that story turned out infuriating a great number of readers.

Even though we doubt that anyone will be offended by this latest creation from German luxury tuning firm DMC, calling a car "Fakhuna" seems a like a poor naming choice to say the least…

New Scoop Video Reveals that DBS Replacement will be Named Vanquish

Even though Aston Martin practically revealed the next DBS at last week's Concorso d'Eleganza vintage and concept car show in Italy with the AM310 Design Concept, up until now, we were in the dark about the production model's final name.

That's no more because Car Magazine was somehow at the right place at the right time when one of Aston Martin's trailers carrying the production model was left unsupervised for a few seconds, which was more than enough time to film the badge at the rear end of the car.

Scoop: Aston Martin's DBS Replacement Filmed on the Road

While Aston Martin's top brass were previewing the looks of the next DBS with the Project AM310 Concept on the scenic shores of Lake Como in Italy during the 2012 Concorso d'Eleganza, the brand's engineers were hard at work conducting tests of the production model in and around the Nürburgring in Germany.

The Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este 2012 in Pictures

Last weekend, the luxurious Grand Hotel Villa d'Este overseeing the scenic shores of Lake Como in northern Italy played host to the annual Concorso d'Eleganza vintage-car event.

On display at the 2012 Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este were a range of classic cars and motorcycles as well as several new concept models including the Aston Martin AM310 that previews the brand's replacement for the DBS and the BMW Zagato Coupe based on the Z4 roadster, both of which made their world premiere at the prestigious show.

Aston Martin Previews New DBS with AM310 Concept at Concorso d'Eleganza [Videos]

One of the surprise debutants of the 2012 edition of the Concorso d'Eleganza, which took place in Lake Como in northern Italy this weekend, is the Aston Martin Project AM310 Concept.

Mind you, this is not one of your run-of-the-mill concept studies but a pre-production version of the DBS replacement that will make its debut later this year before it goes on sale worldwide in early 2013.

With the exception of the two-tone alloy wheels and the visible carbon fiber aero kit and mirrors, this is the same car we showed you a couple of day ago testing on the Nürburgring.

The styling of the DBS replacement has been freshened up in a revolutionary kind of way with design cues from the One-77, especially in the profile with the sharper and more pronounced front and rear fenders, and the use of chrome on the window line, as well as the rounded rear with the stretched 'C' shaped tail lamps.

Spy Shots: 2013 Aston Martin DBS V12 Supercar is the Old New

Ladies and gentleman, time to take out your magnifying glasses and open a couple of windows to compare these fresh scoop pictures of the 2014 Aston Martin DBS to its current namesake.

Note that according to some sources, Aston Martin may replace the DBS nameplate with a new one, though we have yet to hear this from channels.

To save you some research time, we can tell you that the 2013 model year DBS or whatever Aston Martin decides to call it, adopts some styling cues from the One-77 such as the more heavily arched front and rear panels, the door mirrors along with new front and rear lights, and grille and bumper designs.

Would you Believe that this Aston Martin DBS Replica is Based on a Toyota Supra?

Whereas some people transform the already wickedly fast in turbocharged outfit, fourth-generation Toyota Supra into mechanical beasts with 1,000-ponies under the hood, others, a very few to be honest, have slightly different plans for the Japanese sports car.

Take the British owner of this Toyota Supra, for example, who turned the coupe model into a replica of an Aston Martin DBS, supposedly inspired by the one featured in the 2008 James Bond flick, Quantum of Solace.

Aston Martin Bids Farewell to DBS with Ultimate Edition Coupe and Volante

We first heard about Aston Martin's plans to present a limited edition run of its DBS before the series gives its place to an all-new model a fortnight ago, and now, the British carmaker has made it official with the introduction of the DBS Ultimate.

Aston Martin has not yet said how many DBS Ultimate models it will produce (rumor has it 100 units with 30 of those heading to the States) or how much it will cost, but we do get the basic specifications.

Aston Martin Treats Chinese Buyers with Dragon 88 Limited Edition Models

If not all, most premium automakers from the West express their love for the Chinese market by launching limited edition models that have one thing in common: the presence of dragons and gold accent trims.

Aston Martin is not immune from this banality as the British brand revealed three hand crafted ‘Year of the Dragon’ special editions at the 2012 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition.
