Cam Shaft Does its Styling Thing on the BMW M3 Coupe

German styling house Cam Shaft has wrapped up (literally) work on its latest project car based on the current generation of the BMW M3 Coupe.

Being a company that specializes on car wraps, the highlight of Cam Shaft's M3 tune is the mat space-gray metallic foiling that costs €1,785 (US$2,230, including 19 percent VAT/Tax) for the body and an extra €715 (US$890) to cover other visible areas of the coupe such as the door and cabin surrounds.

Custom Built E30 BMW M3 Touring with E36 M3's Straight-Six

Earlier today, we told you about a 1970s BMW 1602 Coupe turned into a pickup truck with an inline-six from the E30 325i that we discovered on eBay, but that wasn't the only custom Bimmer we found on the online auction shop.

Case in point this 1990 (1991MY) BMW 318i Touring that was transformed into an M3 Touring. Those of you familiar with the E30's history will know that BMW never built a station wagon version of the E30 M3, which was exclusively available in coupe and convertible body styles.

Vorsteiner GTRS5 Program Gives the BMW M3 Coupe the Wide Body Treatment

Despite the fact that BMW hasn't said anything about ending production of the E92 M3, Vorsteiner says it's "commemorating the retiring" of the coupe model with a next generation of GTRS series widebody conversions.

The over-the-top GTRS5 styling package is quite comprehensive and revolves around the very wide front and rear wheel arch extensions.

BMW M3 E36 Converted to a Pickup Truck, Is it a Stud or a Dud?

Last year, BMW's M division had scoop photographers and news sites alike trying to figure out what was going on with the E92-based M3 targa-topped pickup truck testing at the Nürburgring.

That was before the Bavarians revealed the car in the flesh on April 1 in what we had then described as, the "auto industry’s most expensive and elaborate April Fool’s Joke".

While the white M3 "El Camino" was never intended for the public with BMW keeping it as a workshop transport vehicle for M GmbH, we found another M3 pickup truck that is listed for sale in Germany.

This model is based on a 1993 E92 M3 Coupe powered by a 3.0-liter straight-six with an output of 282hp (286PS).

BMW M Club Drivers Crash Into Each Other on Moscow Streets

A pleasurable drive on the city streets of Moscow, Russia, turned into a nightmare for several members of a local BMW M Club this past Saturday, after a number of cars crashed into each other.

Video footage from one of the cars involved in the accident as well as from another, unrelated vehicle discovered online (3rd clip, skip to 1:06), shows that the pileup occurred when the driver of a blue E34 M5 sedan turned on his blinker and veered towards the right lane at the same time that a mustard-colored E46 M3 Coupe was coming from behind.

As a result, the driver of the M3 lost control and smashed into the BMW with the camera (reportedly the blue E90 M3 sedan), which was then rear-ended by a 1-Series M Coupe.

Double M: BMW Prepares M Performance Editions of M3 Coupe and M5 Sedan

We get it that BMW wants to leave no stone unturned when it comes to serving its customers, but we must admit that introducing M Performance variants of its M brand cars makes about as much sense as buttering both sides of your toast.

"Our new BMW M Performance Models are geared toward customers looking for high performance for everyday use," are the words BMW CEO Norbert Reithofer used to describe the M Performance sub-brand.

New BMW M3 Coupé Frozen Silver Edition Limited to 100 Units for the UK

The car U.S buyers came to know as the M3 Coupe Competition Edition is being launched in Britain as the new M3 Coupé Frozen Silver Edition. Regardless of the name, it's the same special edition model that was created in celebration of BMW M GmbH’s 40th anniversary year.

BMW says the M3 Coupé Frozen Silver Edition adds nearly £9,000 (US$14,400) of equipment to a standard M3 for an on-cost of £4,000 (US$6,400). Only 100 examples will be made available in the UK with the first cars arriving on 1 June.

Egyptian Refuses to Pay $150,000 for BMW 1M Coupe, Shoe-horns M3 V8 into a 120d Coupe

If you live in the States and can justify spending a little under $50,000 on a car, the $47,010 BMW 1M Coupe (335hp) is a sound choice for those looking for a fast and fun to drive bimmer as it only costs $7,710 more the $39,300 135i Coupe (300hp) and $13,090 less than the $60,100 M3 Coupe (414hp).

However, in other parts of the world where governments apply ridiculously high taxes on cars, not even the 1M Coupe is a reasonable choice. Take Egypt for example.

According to 1addicts forum member “hatembmw”, the 1M Coupe costs some US$150,000 in Egypt because of the insane taxes! Who can blame him for not wanting to pay that much money for BMW's entry-level M model?

“Hatembmw” settled on a different solution: he took a 120d Coupe, stripped it down and swapped the four-cylinder diesel engine with a 414hp 4.0-liter V8 from the latest M3!

SPIED: BMW's New M3 Sedan Drops Two Cylinders but Gains Turbochargers

The engineers over at BMW's M division have their hands full with a variety of upcoming projects, one of which is the new M3 captured here in a sedan body style.

The first thing you'll need to know about the next M3 saloon and its two-door siblings (rumor has it they may be named M4), is that the current model's 4.0-liter naturally-aspirated V8 will give its place to a smaller displacement six-cylinder engine that will follow the example of the M5 employing the use of turbochargers.

BMW Launches UK-Only M3 Coupe and Convertible Limited Edition 500

A 420HP M3 is, in itself, a special model even in standard specification. Nevertheless, BMW has decided to launch a new Limited Edition version of both the coupe and convertible variants of the M3 that will be produced in 500 units, all of which are destined for the UK market.

The M3 Limited Edition 500 does not feature any mechanical changes: it is still powered by the normally aspirated 420HP V8 which transfers power to the rear axle via a six-speed manual or a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox. So, no change in performance or handling (as in the hardcore GTS for example) compared to the stock model then.

Can the BMW X5M Beat the M3 Coupe Around a Tight Corner?

The X5M may be equipped with a much more powerful 4.4-liter turbocharged V8 pushing out 555-horses to all four corners of the car, but the fact remains that it's a tall and heavy SUV.

The M3 Coupe, on the other hand, makes up for its less potent 414-horsepower naturally aspirated 4.0L V8 by being significantly lighter and far more nimble on the road.

So if you're on a track, the answer to the question we posed in the title should be obvious. Well, at least it should be if you play a fair game. Watch the video after the break and you'll see what we mean.

2014 BMW M4 / M3 Coupe Realistically Rendered

Its name and the type of engine that will lie under its hood may be debatable, but plans for a successor to today's M3 Coupe do exist. However, you'll have to wait at least until 2013 to see the high performance model in BMW's dealerships.

For those of you that just can't wait to get a peek at the next M3 Coupe or perhaps as we may come to know it, the M4, graphic designer Jacek Kolodziejczyk has put his skills to work developing a pretty realistic rendering of the coupe model.

SPY SHOTS: Six-Cylinder BMW M3 F30 Sedan Spotted on the Road

With the unveiling of the 2012 BMW 3 Series sedan all done and dusted, the Bavarian automaker's engineers have now turned their focus on the other variants of the F30 series including the flagship M3 sedan that was captured by our spies testing on the streets of Germany in a fairly light disguise.

While BMW has done its best to hide the most telling styling features of the M3 such as the shape of the front and rear bumpers, the pictures expose the car's muscular front and rear fenders that house larger alloy wheels and brake sets, as well as the beefier rocker panels.

1999 Honda Civic Coupe "Converted to a 2011 BMW M3"

We know what some of you may be thinking upon viewing the pictures, and to answer your first question, no, this is not Acura's upcoming ILX luxury compact model that is slated to debut in Detroit in January. Instead, it's one of those bizarre creations we occasionally find over at the crazy world of Craigslist.

Much like the Saab 900S Convertible turned into a Cadillac of some sorts that we showed you last week, this 1999 Honda Civic Coupe is supposed to resemble a BMW.

Premiere for BMW and BMW M Performance at the 2011 Essen Motor Show

November is shaping up to be by far the most intense motor show month of the year as we've already had two major events, the 2011 SEMA Show and this week's 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, with two more heading our way, the 2011 Essen Motor Show and the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show.

The Essen Motor Show, which is the European equivalent of SEMA and takes place in Germany from November 26 to December 4, is up next. Today, BMW announced that its BMW Performance and BMW M Performance divisions will officially participate in the tuning show for the very first time (for those of you counting, we used the word "Show" 8 times, and the word "BMW" three times…in the same sentence).
