Hyundai Defies European Economic Crisis, Records Best Ever First Quarter Sales

Whereas many carmakers are seeing their sales shrink in Europe due to the financial crisis, Hyundai managed to register a record number of new cars between January and March 2012 with 114,571 units. This represents an increase of 12.5 percent over the same period 12 months ago.

In contrast, the overall European new car market declined by 7.3 percent in the first quarter of the year. The Korean automaker now holds a 3.3 percent share of the market.

Hyundai to Display Fuel Cell Electric ix35 at UK's EcoVelocity

Fuel-cell vehicles are not yet commercially available, but automakers are already working on the zero-emissions technology, which promises to stop our dependence for mobility on oil.

One of the many carmakers actively working on fuel-cell technology is Hyundai, which today announced that it will display the FCEV (Fuel Cell Electric Vehicle) version of its ix35 (Tucson in the States) crossover at UK’s EcoVelocity show that will run from September 8 to 13 at London’s Battersea Power Station.

Hyundai Becomes Preferred Supplier for UK Police

Bob Dylan once said, "The Times They Are A-Changin'." If you lived in Britain in the 1950s and '60s, you'd see custodian helmeted policemen driving around in Morris Minors and Ford Anglias. Living the High Life: Hyundai Makes it to Harrods

In a bit of a marketing stretch, Hyundai is trying to "sell" its new iX35 compact crossover (sold as the 2010 Tucson in North America) at the kind of crowd that shops at Harrods' luxury department store in Knightsbridge, London. The South Korean firm's new crossover model will be on show in Harrods' Brompton Road window displays for a week starting from Monday 7th June.
