McLaren will fully reveal the new Spider on July 3, but to whet our appetites, the automaker released a single cropped image showing part of the car with the roof open along with a video of Vodafone McLaren Mercedes F1 driver, Jenson Button talking about the sensation of having an unobstructed view of the sky.

McLaren MP4-12C Spider to be Introduced This Year, F1 Replacement Concept Possibly in the Works

That McLaren is readying a roadster version of the MP4-12C as well as a spiritual successor to the famed F1 supercar is nothing new, but after visiting the British company's headquarters in Woking, Car&Driver claims to have some new tidbits about the two cars.

We will begin with the open-top MP4-12C that is likely to carry the Spider moniker. The report says that this model's debut has been confirmed for later this year, which means we could see it as early as September at the Paris Motor Show – unless McLaren prefers another event like the L.A. Auto Show.

Mansory's Brawny McLaren MP4-12C

These are the first pictures of Mansory's take on the McLaren MP4-12C, which is proving to be extremely popular with the high-end tuning scene at the Geneva Motor Show.

Of all the customized McLaren MP4-12C's we've seen up until now, Mansory's tune is no doubt the most hardcore when it comes to looks.

The German firm starts with an assortment of aero components made out of carbon fiber that widen the vehicle by 60mm and include among other things, a new front bumper with a splitter, a prominent rear diffuser and a large rear wing.

The fourth customized McLaren MP4-12C to debut at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon comes to us from Hamann Motorsports and it's called the "memoR".

Gemballa Dresses Up McLaren MP4-12C for the Geneva Auto Salon

Perhaps surprisingly to some, but not so much to others, the McLaren MP4-12C has captured the attention of many tuners at this year's Geneva Auto Salon.

After Wheelsandmore, Mansory and FAB Design, German tuning outfit Gemballa has also presented its take on the British supercar. This is the first time that Gemballa has tuned a McLaren model.

FAB Design's Opposite Day has a Positive Effect on the McLaren MP4-12C

For the second time this year, FAB Design has surprised us in a positive way with one of its tunes. After the livable Mercedes-Benz E-Class Convertible, the notorious maker of one of the most hideous Escalade transformations ever, presented its take on the McLaren MP4-12C today at the 2012 Geneva Auto Salon. And it's not bad at all.

The Swiss design house adds some more flair to the British supercar through a new wide-body aero package that includes redesigned bumpers and fenders, a spoiler under the windshield, side skirts, profile air intakes, plus a carbon fiber lip spoiler and rear wing.

McLaren MP4-12C Diabolically Tricked Out to 666-Horses by Wheelsandmore

With McLaren's newest creation gradually making its way to most markets around the world, the tuning industry is stepping up its efforts to satisfy the needs of power-thirsty buyers.

After Hennessey, German tuning firm Wheelasandmore has also presented a new package for the McLaren MP4-12C, which includes both styling and performance products.

In factory guise, the MP4-12C's mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine is rated at 600PS (592HP) and 600Nm (442.5 lb-ft). A reprogrammed ECU along with a custom sports exhaust system push those numbers to 666-horsepower and 640Nm (472 lb-ft) respectively.

McLaren Ahoy! MP4-12C Arrives in North America, Priced at a Measly…$229,000

We'd tell you to get your bank accounts ready if we didn’t know better, because at $229,000, not including a $2,400 destination and port processing fee, we somehow doubt you can afford the new McLaren MP4-12C without selling your house.

The British automaker not only informed us that deliveries of the MP4-12C "are now underway to customers in North America and Canada" (apparently, Canada split off the continent and nobody took notice) but the company also released a video of the first supercars driving off the cargo vessel Taisko in Baltimore, MD.

Hennessey Performance Promises to Turn McLaren MP4-12C into an 800HP Beast

If there's one thing the stock McLaren MP4-12C has in abundance it's power from the mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 engine which is rated at 600PS (592HP) and 600Nm (442.5 lb-ft).

However, Texas-based tuning firm Hennessey Performance begs to differ as it believes the MP4-12C could do with some additional horses under the hood – 200 of them, to be precise.

Just last week, we told you about McLaren and its plans to enhance the range of its new MP4-12C sports car with an open top version that may be named MP4-12S (for Spider).

We've known for a while that the MP4-12C was just the warning shot at McLaren’s declaration of war against established supercar manufacturers. In fact, we have already detailed its plans for a new range of supercars based on the carbonfiber chassis of the MP4-12C.

Ron Dennis' newest creation, the McLaren MP4-12C, only went on sale in Europe this past spring but we're already seeing the first crashed examples showing up on the used car market.

This silver colored MP4-12C was registered in Holland on August 2011 and covered only 4,000 kilometers (2,486 miles) before its owner drove it into what may have been a ditch judging by the dirt up front and the damage to the car.

McLaren Gives us an Insight into its New Production Center with Video and Mega Gallery

Venturing into the automotive business takes a lot more than building some prototypes, launching a new model and then waiting for the orders to come in. Even more so if you intend to compete on the top level and establish yourself as a supercar manufacturer.

This is why McLaren Automotive didn’t only build its first supercar after the iconic F1 of the ‘90s, but also invested close to £50 million (€58.2 or US$77.3 million) in developing a brand-new, state-of-the-art factory – or rather, as the company names it, the McLaren Production Center (MPC).
