Lumma Design Previews New Styling Package for BMW M6 Coupe

Leave it to Lumma Design to take a rather understated sports coupe like the BMW M6 F12 and transform it into something that looks like it would feel right at home racing at the DTM (Deutsche Tourenwagen Masters or German Touring Car Masters in English).

Then again, looks can be deceiving as Lumma Design's tuning program for the M6 Coupe is strictly cosmetic, at least for the time being.

Mega Gallery with More than 180 HQ Photos of 2013 BMW M6 Coupe and Convertible

Just as the new 2013 M6 Coupe and Convertible models begin to arrive in European and North American (for now only the cabriolet as the coupe will follow later in the summer) dealerships, BMW dropped a fresh gallery of high-resolution images detailing the two models from all sorts of angles both inside and out.

The pride and joy of the third generation F12/F13 6-Series range is offered for the first time in the history of the model with a turbocharged V8 engine, as the first M6 sported a naturally aspirated 3.5-liter inline-six with 282hp (286PS) in EU-spec, and the second iteration a naturally aspirated 5.0-liter V10 churning out 500hp (507PS).

2013 BMW M6 Gran Coupe Visualized in New Renderings

The last time our scoop photographers nabbed the 2013 BMW M6 Gran Coupe, it was undergoing winter tests in northern Europe, with the company’s engineers having cloaked parts of the car in light camouflage.

If you need more help to visualize the new M6 Gran Coupe, photoshop artist Wildspeed and the crew over at Bimmer Post have created a series of speculative renderings to show us what the sports saloon could look like in real life.

Stock Mercedes SLS AMG Vs. Tuned BMW M6 and Audi RS6

In this week's drag strip battle, we have a stock Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG with 571-horses competing against two tuned German sports cars, a previous generation BMW M6 Coupe with 530-ponies and an even more powerful Audi RS6 sedan with 750-horses kicking under its hood.

This time, the number of ponies played their role in the races, though if it wasn't for a bad start, the Mercedes could have won the match with the Audi as well.

You can watch the race for yourself in the video that follows below.

2013 BMW X1 Facelift to Debut at New York Auto Show, U.S. Sales to Start this Summer

The BMW X1 will launch in the United States sooner than what the Bavarian company has led us to believe the last time we reported about the matter, as the automaker today announced that the facelifted X1 would receive its world premiere at next month's 2012 New York International Auto Show and go on sale in the States this summer.

When the German automaker introduced the X3's smaller sibling back in the summer of 2009, it said that it would offer the X1 in the States in early 2011, but that never happened with BMW constantly delaying its launch.

Back to the present, BMW said that the revised X1 will be offered in America with its new 2.0-liter TwinPower Turbo 4-cylinder gasoline engine. The automaker did not release any other details nor any photos of the facelifted model.

SPY SHOTS: New 2013 BMW M6 Gran Coupe is On its Way

BMW is planning to inject some serious power under the hood of its sexy 6-Series Gran Coupe sports sedan with the addition of a flagship version wearing the iconic M badge.

However, don't expect any prizes for guessing the power source as it's a well-known fact that all upper level BMW M models are motivated by the same or in some cases, mildly modified version of the brand's 4.4-liter bi-turbo V8 engine.

We anticipate that it will be the same unit found in the brand-new M6 Coupe and Convertible models with the internal designation S63Tü.

And while there's always the possibility of BMW M engineers fiddling around with the electronics to push out a few more ponies, chances are it will deliver the same output at 560-horses (412kW) between 5,750 and 7,000 rpm, and a peak torque of 680Nm (502lb-ft) from 1,500 to 5,750 rpm.

First Videos of New BMW M6 Coupe and Convertible on the Move

BMW officially revealed the new generation of its M6 range this past Saturday and now we have the first video footage of both the Coupe and Convertible variants, courtesy of the folks over at the m5board forums.

Before you make the jump to watch the two clips though, we should tell you that you won't have the chance to hear the sounds of the new M6's twin-turbocharged V8 engine just yet as both videos come with a background music.

BMW Reveals 2013 M6 Coupe and Convertible with 560HP Bi-Turbo V8 [30 Photos]

The famous M badge returns to BMW's 6-Series range with the official unveiling of the new M6 Coupe and Convertible models ahead of their world premieres at the Geneva Salon in March and the New York Auto Show in April respectively.

Not surprisingly, at the heart of the M6 lies the same 4.4-liter V8 engine with two twin-scroll turbochargers found in the latest M5 sedan with the internal designation S63Tü.

Just as it does in the M5 saloon, the eight-cylinder unit produces an output of 560-horses (412kW) between 5,750 and 7,000 rpm, and a peak torque of 680Nm (502lb-ft) between 1,500 and 5,750 rpm. BMW also tells us that the rev limiter intervenes at 7,200 rpm.

All that power is transferred to the road through a standard 7-speed M-Double Clutch Transmission (M-DCT) and BMW's Active M Differential which optimizes power transfer between the rear wheels. Down the line, the Bavarian automaker may also offers a 6-speed manual gearbox in the United States like it did with the new M5.

For the past couple of years, we've been following the development of the next generation BMW M6 in both coupe and convertible guises but now the time has come to begin the final countdown for their reveal.

SPY SHOTS: 2012 BMW M6 Cabriolet Continues Testing

We were hoping to see the new BMW M6 at last month's Frankfurt Motor Show, but apparently, the Bavarian company has other plans for the presentation of its flagship two-door model that will be offered in both coupe and convertible derivatives.

Following recent pictures of the 2012 M6 Coupe, our spy shooters came up close and personal with a right-hand drive cabriolet model while testing in Europe.

Video: Watch a BMW Z3 5.0 V10 go from 0 to 340km/h+

If you thought the short clip of the all-new 2012 BMW M5 reaching 300km/h (187mph) on the German Autobahn was cool, wait until you get a load of this clip.

What you're about to watch is footage from a steering-wheel mounted camera -hence the wobbly picture- of a specially modified BWM Z3 racecar accelerating from zero to a little over 340km/h (211mph+) in less than 20 seconds.

As you may have imagined, this is no ordinary Z3 Coupe as it is fitted with a 5.0-liter V10 engine sourced from the previous M5 saloon / M6 Coupe & Cabriolet models, delivering 530HP and 600Nm (442.5 lb-ft) of peak torque.

SCOOP: BMW Continues Development of New 2012 M6 Coupe

We were expecting to see the new M6 making its global premiere at this week's Frankfurt Motor Show, but apparently BMW has other plans set aside. Regardless of where the new M6's debut takes place, we should see the high-performance model in dealership by the summer of 2012.

The third iteration of the M6 in both Coupe and Convertible flavors will borrow the inner works of the latest M5 sports saloon, which means power will come from a 4.4-liter eight-cylinder engine supplemented by a pair of turbochargers and direct-injection technology.

SCOOP: 2012 BMW M6 Spied in Convertible Trim

The engineering teams over at the BMW Group have their hands full these days as they rush to complete testing of a number of future vehicles.

These include but are not limited to, MINI’s Roadster and BMW’s i3 hatch, i8 hybrid sports car, M6 Coupe, the next generation 3-Series sedan and GT liftback, the 7-Series facelift, the four-door 6-Series GT which we showed you earlier today, and case in point, the convertible version of the M6.

As with the 2012 M6 Coupe, BMW is slowly stripping away the disguise from the rag-top model which will feature the same M Division-tuned drivetrain found in the latest M5 sports sedan.

2012 BMW M6 Spied Testing, gets New M5’s Twin-Turbo V8

These are some of the clearest spy shots of BMW’s next M-branded model, the M6 Coupe, which will take its place as the flagship version of the new F13 6-Series.

The recent unveiling of the new M5 sports saloon gives us an idea of what to expect in terms of performance as the M6 will be powered by the same twin-turbocharged 4.4-liter V8 engine.

The force-fed V8 brings an end to a line of naturally aspirated engines for the M6 that started with the iconic straight six of the first generation and continued with the V10 of the outgoing model.

Video Tour of the Unmade BMW M Cars Including the M3 Tourer and Compact, Ur-Roadster and M5 Cabriolet

It is by far, the most sacred place for a BMW M fan. We’re talking about the BMW M Division’s underground facility where the company stores copies of all the production cars and prototypes it has ever built, including a variety of never before seen in public vehicles. In a surprising but much welcomed move, the German automaker recently opened the doors of the special M garage to the members of the press and select enthusiasts revealing an array of models that most had only heard about.

We already brought you a video of the wild M8 Coupe with the 580-horsepower V12 engine that was eventually used on the McLaren F1, but now we have several videos showcasing the entire lineup of M cars.

These include the E46 M3 Touring (BMW for station wagon), the E36 M3 Compact powered by the same 321HP straight-six from the M3 Coupe of the time, the E34 M5 Cabriolet with open-top seating for four, an M3 powered E30 ute and possibly the strangest creation yet, the so called Ur-Roadster. The latter is said to have been developed after the Z1 with power being delivered by the E30 M3’s 2.3-liter four-cylinder engine.

BMW 1-Series M Coupe Allegedly Laps the Nürburgring in 8:12" Making it Faster than E46 M3

The BMW 1-Series M Coupe is pretty fast on paper. Reaching the 60 mph (96 km/h) mark in just 4.7 seconds is no small feat, but nowadays, it seems that performance cars need to have a respectable “Ring” time under there belt to command respect. Now, a forum member of the 1Addicts fan site who calls himself "SteveD" claims that the Ring time for the 335-horsepower strong M model is 8 minutes and 12 seconds.

If true (and according to the Nürburgring lap times list posted on Wikipedia), this means the entry-level M model is 10 seconds faster than the E46 M3, on par with the E86 Z4 M Coupe, but 7 seconds slower than the E92 M3 .

G-Power Creates the BMW M6 Hurricane RR, Says it's the World's Fastest 4-Seater Coupe

Never content with BMW's factory offerings, renowned German tuner G-Power has presented its latest accomplishment in the form of the new M6 Hurricane RR, which it claims to be the "world's fastest 4-seat Coupé".

While based on the outgoing BMW M6 Coupé, the Hurricane RR Coupe adopts the V10 bi-supercharger engine from G-Power's M5 Hurricane RR, which delivers 800-horsepower between 7,500 and 8,000 rpm, and a maximum torque of 800 Nm (or 590 lb-ft) generated at 5,000 rpm.
